The SP9 is a 50W/ch integrated valve amplifier with four line inputs.
To achieve the power output, four KT88 valves, two per channel, are run in push / pull configuration to give a very conservative 50W, well within the capabilities of these valves ensuring a long valve life. These are supported by four, 6SN7 valves as drivers and a single 5AR4 rectifier.
The chassis is manufactured from aluminium and has a gloss black finish which will fit in most contemporary and classic design schemes.
The front panel is dominated with an oversize volume control which is very smooth in operation and actually switches 24 pairs of precision matched resistors minimizing the number of components in the signal path regardless of volume level. The simple, clean lines of the front panel accommodate only two other controls, a single power switch and a second dial which selects between the four inputs.
The top plate of the SP9 is dominated by the KT88 output valves arrayed across the chassis with the smaller 6SN7 and single 5AR4 in front, whilst the rear of the amplifier holds three large transformer shrouds for the input, HT and output transformers. An all enveloping cage is supplied should you wish to cover the valve complement.
The back panel contains four pairs of high quality, single ended RCA inputs, and six five way binding posts, three per channel, with 4 ohm and 8 ohm taps for each channel. Power input is via a high quality IEC input allowing the use of a high quality aftermarket power cord if desired.
