Astro Black 50 Intergrated Amplifier

The Astro Black 50 is our high end 50W/ch integrated amplifier offering 50W/ch, four single ended line inputs and a balanced input on XLR.

The Astro Black 50 is finished in an elegant piano black finish with only three compact controls on the front panel, a central mounted volume control, flanked on either side by a single control, one for power and a second input selection.

The top panel hold two pairs of KT88 power output tubes on the outside edges, inside these are a pair of 6SN7 tubes for each channel, with the extraordinary looking 101D tube centrally mounted. The very unusual 101D is used for voltage stabilization whilst the 6SN7’s are used for signal amplification which then drive the KT88’s. On the rear of the chassis are the three shrouds covering the massive transformers used in this design, one for HT, a second power transformer and finally the output transformer. Needless to say an all enveloping cage is supplied should you wish to cover the tube complement. The quality is continued internally with point to point wiring, Jensen paper in oil capacitors and tightly toleranced resistors ensuring only the very best components are used in the signal path.

The back panel is home to 4 pairs of RCA phono inputs and a single pair of XLR balanced inputs. There are three five way binding posts per channel, allowing you to select between 8 ohm and 4 ohm output taps to optimise the sound in your system with power input via a high quality IEC power inlet, allowing you to optionally use an aftermarket IEC power cord.

With the power, dynamics and control typically associated with high quality push pull valve stages coupled with a subtle, delicately shaded tonal quality, this amplifier may well be the only valve integrated you ever need to buy.
