A great introduction to the world of triodes, a genuine 2A3 all triode device and at a very tempting price.
Like all Triode valves the 2A3 delivers a modest power output... running in push-pull mode this amplifier offers twelve watts per channel.
However the Astro Black 22 can deliver quite a lot more power in real world conditions, our special circuits give a serious dynamic punch when it is needed... up to 64 watts per channel for short periods. This lively performance is ably supported by Jensen paper-in-oil capacitors and our own unique cabling.
The unit offers five inputs, one balanced, and utilises our old favourite the 6SN7 valve on the regulated input and output circuits.... as in our reference class preamplifier, the 101D. The Astro Black 22 is capable of reproducing the power of a grand piano and the full might of an orchestra, from whisper to climax, all with wonderful refinement.
This amplifier is at its considerable best when matched to loudspeakers of 94db and above... well known examples include Klipsch, Tannoy and JBL.
